What Materials and Adhesive Should I Use For My Drink and Bottle Labels?

For drink and bottle labels, we recommend using high-quality, waterproof label materials like polypropylene, polyester (white or transparent) or polyethylene with a permanent adhesive. If you are producing smaller runs, you may want to start on polyester sheets, however, for the majority of bottle labels we would suggest having these produced onto rolls.

Once we print onto your roll labels, we will apply a laminating finish which keeps the print protected as well as the label itself being able to withstand liquid. If you are producing water bottles then you may choose the Polyethylene which is slightly stretchy, allowing the label to move back into place if the bottle is squeezed or distorted.

When producing beer or wine bottles we would print onto Polypropylene, due to the artworks and printing types, craft beer is a popular choice for our roll label machines. When it comes to Spirit or Wines our spot varnish and metallic print can give off an impressive classy look to make you stand out from the rest. Moving away from the smooth plastic feel, if you want your bottle to have a rustic look with a laid feel, the Tintoretto material is an eye catching alternative to give off a high end look that screams class.

What Are Required on Drink and Bottle Labels?

Drink and bottle labels are subject to specific regulations and guidelines to ensure consumer safety and transparency.

Your drink and bottle labels should include:

  1. Product name and description
  2. Alcohol content (if applicable)
  3. Ingredients and nutrition information
  4. Allergen warnings
  5. Manufacturer or producer information
  6. Recycling or disposal instructions

This information needs to be included in the design you send us, to ensure they can legally be used on products.
