Over the past 7-8 months, we’ve been working on a brand-new website and as you can see, it is finally here! After a few setbacks and lots of time and effort, we are excited to present it to our customers. In this blog, I will talk about some announcements we are making which coincide with the release of the new website.
A4 History and Reason for Change
A4Labels.com Ltd was founded on 20th October 2011. Starting in a spare bedroom on the south coast, Colin sold sheets of labels on eBay and developed a customer base from there, offering 24 stocked sizes (the amount we could fit on the spare bedroom windowsill). In 2018, we purchased a Daco converting machine and started manufacturing the labels in our Sussex warehouse with lots of space to hold large stocks of those 24 sizes so we could dispatch the labels faster than anyone else. Although this model has worked very well for us over the years, it was somewhat restricting the variety of labels our customers were able to easily buy.
Back in the February, when the concept of redoing our website was proposed, we saw it as an opportunity to make some changes to how we operate. The following is what we have changed and developed to improve your experience:
Stocked sizes & Quantities
Following launch, we will be scrapping our 24 stocked sizes and the made to order section in favour of introducing every single size and material we have available into stock. This means that our customers will be able to order any size (or shape) in any material we have. The added fee for the old made to order sizes will be scrapped, so any size in the same material will all cost the same.
Since the beginning, we have provided the stocked sizes in packs of 20, 100 and 500 sheets. From now on, we will be adding 10, 50, 200 and 1000 sheet packs, reducing the minimum order quantities and giving you more choice.
Print Shop
Customers will now be able to select the option to have their labels printed within every product page rather than navigating to the print shop which will streamline and simplify the process. We are investing in a new printing machine to cope with the increased number of print orders. This machine will improve the print quality, increase the speed and accuracy and give our staff new skills to learn!
General revamp and facelift
The most obvious change will be the design of the site. We wanted everything to look modern and slick, so we invested a lot of time into the image designs and the front page. We have also streamlined the way you navigate the website with everything being clearer and easier to find.
The New Made To Order
Although the made to order system of old has been scrapped, there is still a space on the new site that bears the same name. If you’re after a specific size that you cannot find on the website, go there to fill in a form which we will reply to; this would typically be with a quote for a bespoke cutter to made for you personally to your exact dimensions. We have also reduced the minimum order quantity for new cutter orders down to 100 sheets.
Standard Shipping
A few months ago, we created a poll through our newsletter proposing changing our standard shipping from 2nd to 1st class post. The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of changing to 1st class, so we’ve made sure that this is the process moving forward. This means that even with standard shipping, our customers can potentially get their labels next working day.
To finish, we at A4Labels.com Ltd would like to thank all of our customers, old and new, for their continued support and business.
